2026 TRIP

Day 19 - Port St. Lucie and onto Boynton Beach, Florida

I left Trinity and had a leisurely drive to Port St Lucie. There was really no timetable to get there since the dinner reservation was for 5 pm and it is only about a 2.5 hour drive.  For the very first time in all of my driving I never once went into the left lane.  It didn’t matter if so many cars were passing me.  It was keeping to only 4 mph over the speed limit and I HATE DRIVING LIKE THAT. Relaxing driving like that?  Relaxing is letting the horses under the hood do their thing, yes indeedy.

Got to Lindsey, Jaxson and Jayne and the visit was another terrific one.  Jaxson gave grandpa a really warm welcome and later while we were sitting together on the couch, he spontaneously said, “I love you.”  That kid knows how to position himself in the will.  Lindsey looked the best she’s looked in forever. For myself I thought accomplished something dropping 50 pounds but she eclipsed me by having dropped over 80.

Jaxson fell asleep on the couch so he wasn’t awakened and Keith stayed with him while Lindsey, Jayne & I went to dinner. Since we got there early we could have the 3 course prix fixe dinner.  Lindsey & Jayne were both impressive by substituting salads instead of having desserts.  I on the other hand opted for a decadent chocolate layer cake.

After dinner it was another leisurely drive of about 70 minutes to Boynton Beach.  For about 15 minutes there was a very heavy downpour but it wasn’t a problem and traffic moved along with no tie-ups.

I’m staying at a Courtyard by Marriott in Boynton Beach and it is a surprisingly nice hotel. The front desk person gave me a choice of 3 rooms when I told her I wanted one with the least walking and then explained the pros and cons of each room location.  I guess that attitude flies in the face of my tirade in yesterday's account.

When I loaded the luggage cart another of the front desk people offered to push it for me even though I really wasn’t having a problem.  They also said I didn’t have to bring the cart back to the lobby but just to leave it outside my room.  I have never been offered those courtesies before in this type of hotel (I guess they think I'm old).  A load of laundry followed while watching the Yankees have another big win.

My final comment for today... I did mention that Lindsey had made my weight loss seem very little compared to what she has accomplished. Not all of you know my daughter but I will go on record as a proud papa that she has never looked better and I am very proud of what she has done.
