Day 12 - Mesa, Arizona

At 7am the early Arizona day started for me at a very pleasant 68 degrees.  Do really believe that? At 7am it was already a very warm 82 degrees and within a few hours my car’s thermometer indicated 103.  Oh, but it is a dry heat so it doesn’t feel that hot. It feels like it is only 98 degrees.  Are we all okay with that?

I then drove to the tire place that Andy had made arrangements with to have the tire that matched my three undamaged tires and replace the replacement that I got in Utah.  I needed the run-flat tire since my car doesn’t have room to have a spare.  All went well except for the fact that they overinflated the tire by 5 pounds cold pressure and in Arizona’s very pleasant 103 degrees (please note sarcasm) within a short bit of driving it was soon to reach 10 pounds over. I then had to stop and let about 5 pounds of air out of the tires so it matched the inflation done by an amateur (me) as opposed to what was done by the professional tire people.

From there I visited briefly with Andy and Sherry. Then I scurried back to my hotel to have the complimentary breakfast before they shut it down.  Then up to my room to read emails, do NY Times various word games and return some phone calls.

Mid-afternoon I drove to the other side of Phoenix to Mesa where for dinner I met with cousins Joey, her sister Krissy and Krissy’s husband Brian. We ate at a wonderful Italian restaurant/pizzeria whose food is really good.  NY style Italian food.  Again great conversation and incredible warmth and love always exudes from “The Guercio Family.” Unfortunately Peter couldn’t make it and I did miss seeing him.
